Let's put a real clock on this game, Scott. I'll give you until the last thirty seconds. When the scoreboard clock begins counting down from thirty, if you haven't given me Derek, then Jackson's gonna kill someone. So, tell me, Scott-- who's gonna die tonight? Should it be your mother, who so bravely came out to support you? Or the Sheriff, your best friend's father? Or how about that little redhead who managed to survive the Bite of an Alpha? Or maybe one of these innocent teenagers with their whole life ahead of them. [...] Or should I do everyone a favor and kill that ridiculous Coach? It's up to you, Scott. But you are going to help me take Derek down, because if you don't... I'll have Jackson rip someone's head off right in the middle of the field and drench everyone you love and care about in blood.

Battlefield is the eleventh episode of Season 2 and the twenty-third episode of Teen Wolf.

Synopsis[]

Scott plays in the championship lacrosse game and still must find a way to stop Gerard. Allison continues to pursue her vendetta against Derek.

Plot[]

Boyd and Erica leave Derek, terrified of the Argent werewolf genocide. At the championship lacrosse game, Gerard threatens to murder someone with the Kanima if Scott does not bring Derek to him by the game's end. Allison ruthlessly shoots Boyd with arrows until the werewolves are saved by Chris, who is upset by Allison's actions. On the field, Stiles begins a massive winning streak, and their team wins. Just then, Jackson is found bleeding and unresponsive; he has stabbed himself with his own claws. Sheriff Stilinski makes a grim discovery: Stiles has gone missing.

Cast[]

Main Cast[]

Supporting Cast[]

Guest Cast[]

  • Fred Cruz as Sean Body/Omega
  • David Elson as Kanima
  • Stephen Lunsford as Matt Daehler (archive footage only) (uncredited)

Continuity[]

  • Allison continues to succumb to her darker nature after being manipulated by Gerard following the death of her mother Victoria in Party Guessed.
  • Allison calls Gerard "Grandpa" for the first and only time in this episode. Gerard first requested she do so when she was ready in Omega.
  • Peter and Derek reunite for the first time since Peter's resurrection in Party Guessed.
    • Just as Alan Deaton predicted and warned Derek about in Fury, Peter uses his intellect and cunning to trick Derek into letting him help by claiming that since Derek needs a Beta and Peter needs an Alpha, they can help each other.
  • Melissa references Scott's transformation into a Werewolf in this episode. She first learned that Scott is a Werewolf in Fury.
  • Jackson Whittemore chooses to kill himself rather than act as Gerard's weapon of vengeance against his enemies. Gerard became Jackson's Kanima Master in Fury after Matt's death.
  • In response to Jackson's suicide, Gerard kidnaps Stiles and brings him back to the Argent House, where Vernon Boyd and Erica Reyes were also being kept. The three of them would remain captives until Master Plan.
  • Marin Morrell appears in this episode. She was last seen in Raving.
  • Stiles plays in his first lacrosse game in this episode and is able to win the game. He has been on the bench since Season 1's Wolf Moon.
  • Sheriff Stilinski is reinstated to his position as Sheriff of Beacon County after solving the Kanima murders. Sheriff was suspended by his superiors in Raving.
  • Erica and Boyd make the decision to leave the Hale Pack in this episode, which will continue to have implications for themselves and Derek through the rest of Season 2 and the beginning of Season 3.
  • This episode marks the first time in the series that a Werewolf is revealed to have the power to take pain from other living beings such as animals, humans, and other supernatural creatures. Isaac is the first to demonstrate this ability by taking the pain of a dog who was dying of cancer.
  • Isaac elects to stay and help Scott rather than run away with Boyd and Erica, foreshadowing the fact that he will later defect to the McCall Pack in Season 3.
  • Peter references the myth that you can cure a Werewolf (and a mutated Werewolf such as a Kanima) by "calling out its Christian name," another term for a person's first name. This myth will play a role in the season finale of Season 2 as well as the Season 5 finale, when it is used by Lydia Martin to give Mason Hewitt control over his body again and expel the spirit of Sebastien Valet.
  • Scott is unable to play in the game because of his poor grades, as ordered by Gerard. Scott's academic struggle has been a major part of his story line since Season 1's The Tell.
